Hi! I’m Petra and I’m from the PNW. Welcome to my free newsletter. 😀 I’m an indie writer, novelist, storyteller, sometimes poet and essayist, lover of vegan chocolate cake and heirloom tomatoes (not together, but… 🤔), and drinker of tea.

I write across genres and my stories are usually about chosen family and figuring out what it means to be human.

My first novel Manly Hero was co-written with my partner

. Currently it’s under our pen name, Adrastus Rood. You can find it on my website or order it through your favorite local bookstore. It’s a lighthearted fantasy novel that’s been described as “Well written”, “Pure, unadulterated fun”, “Perfect”, and “Trite, Simplistic and Boring”. If you’re interested in reading it you can decide which opinion you agree with. We’re currently working on the sequel.

My solo work-in-progress novels are a sci-fi action adventure and a spicy romance. And I host February Poetry Adventure here on Substack and on Instagram.

Lastly, I have TBR piles I will never summit, I adore puns (you’ve been warned), I love The Vampire Diaries, and I am very opinionated about tea.

Choose Your Own Adventure!

Like me, Petra Glyphs is comprised of several different facets:

  • My Newsletter is sent out once a month, has a few of my personal musings, and will keep you up to date on my works-in-progress — two solo novels; a sci-fi action adventure and a spicy romance, and book two in the Discovery of Legends series co-written with my partner Adam.

  • Stories is where I’ll post my short stories. I write in multiple genres so expect a smörgåsbord of themes and styles. These will be posted without rhythm, reason, or rhyme. (About once a quarter.)

  • Also posted without much rhyme, Poems is where I’ll share my poems and perhaps a few, brief thoughts about writing them. (Usually once per month.)

  • Essays for me are paintings with words. I’m still playing with these, and not sure when I’ll actually post here yet. But they will land here at some point.

  • And Good Writing Days is a place for me to talk about the writing process and how I’ve brought more joy into each part of my writing practice. (I’ll be posting to this section about once a quarter.)

All of my posts are free. And there is never any pressure to upgrade to a paid subscription. If you enjoy my writing and want to throw a buck into my virtual tip jar you can buy me a tea. 😀 (This option is only at the bottom of my non-newsletter posts.)

As an indie author your support really means a lot to me so thanks for following along. Also, it is important to me that your time is respected, so, feel free to select whichever of the above sections you want to follow, and leave the rest behind. It’s a bit complicated, but Adam (my partner and tech unicorn 🦄) has created this lovely how-to on managing your subscription.

Too Many Words?

If pictures are more your speed, you can follow me on Instagram @petraglyphs. Although, to be completely honest, I post a lot of words over there too.

If You Choose The Paid Subscription Option…

… you have made my month! I share all my posts for free because as a writer I want my words to be read, and hopefully, enjoyed. But, being an indie author means that I am out here hustling to try and make a living putting words on paper. And if you have the extra money and would like to support me in this dream, that is amazing!!!

Or, instead of subscribing, you can Buy Me A Tea! For as little as $1 you can throw a tip into my virtual tip jar to let me know you’ve enjoyed something I’ve shared here.

If The Paid Option Isn’t For You Right Now…

… no worries! Subscribing to this newsletter and liking and commenting on my posts are all amazing and beautiful ways of supporting me and I am so grateful for each and every one of them and each and every one of you!

Legal note: I will never sell, transfer, or give away your email address to another party. If I move this newsletter to another platform, you may begin receiving this newsletter via that service. You may unsubscribe at any time.
