Hi Petra, I liked the story. It gave me the vibes of Heinlein's classics or any of the pioneering SF works of the Golden Age, with no fancy technology or superhuman aliens. I think it is worthwhile to revisit these kids in a future story (assuming you haven't used them before in your fiction). Thank you for this short gem.
Thanks for reading it and for the kind words, Levent! I do enjoy the classic SF exploration vibes. :)
And this is the first time I've written about these characters, but new stories about them have already been percolating in my mind, so thanks for the encouragement. :)
Thank you, Anne! Such a lovely compliment. I do enjoy writing adventure stories. And this was my first attempt at an all-ages story. So it was really fun to explore a sci-fi world from the viewpoint of some really cool kids. :)
This was so entertaining. I listened to your engaging audio and really enjoyed the different characters. Quite the caper! I was hanging on every word. Let’s hear it for the books! And the kids!
Julie, thank you! I really enjoyed spending time with these characters. I'm glad you found the story and audio entertaining. And agreed! Yay kids and books!
I loved this story of a merry band of book bandits. It was so much fun to read, and filled with so much imagination. Also, the idea that there are still libraries and readers of books in this futuristic world gives me hope.
Terrific, Petra. Loved the story and the recording!
I can’t pick a favorite character--they’re all great. Tallulah, Goose, Griffen, Penny, what a crew. I could see a whole series of adventures for them and their flybary. :)
I'm glad you liked the whole crew. They totally wormed their way into my heart. And my subconscious, apparently, because I keep seeing scenes from other stories about them. :)
Such a great story, it gave me Mystery Inc and Famous Five vibes with added sprinkles of Sci-fi on top. A band of awesome kids and spaceships? Sign me up, where can I read more?
Two things: most importantly that was a lot of fun. Stories about groups of kids are always a delight, and it's impossible not to adore the youngest. The other thing is just plain weird. Both of us ended our stories with a reveal of a piece of yellow paper. What are the chances of that???? Very strange. Great minds think alike...
What?! Fascinating! Should we buy stock in yellow paper? (I'm still working my way through the SWDS list, and now I'm super curious about how your story ends.)

I adored this--if Edith Nesbit wrote speculative fiction ☺️

Thanks for stopping by to read, Diana! And for the lovely compliments.
I love the visual of 'sprinkles of sci-fi'. I may borrow that in the future. :) 🧁🚀
Be my guest - sprinkles make everything better 😃
