This post made me smile. 😊 Always a treat to read your words and get inspired, Petra! Building puzzles continues to be a light-hearted activity that is calming. 🧩
Puzzles! Love them. Haven’t done one in a few months. That probably needs to be remedied. Glad the post made you smile. And thank you for the kind words. 😊
Oof. I'm having trouble concentrating on much right now with the election looming. Dan and I have been watching the newest season of "The Lincoln Lawyer" lately, which is light enough that I don't feel weighed down by it. I checked out a bunch of poetry audiobooks on Libby just to keep little stream of poetry running when I have a moment. I was listening to "Call us What We Carry" by Amanda Gorman earlier this morning. Kate Bowler's devotional "Have a Beautiful, Terrible Day!" feels especially apropos right now, and very comforting.
Right? Things are intense! I'm actively keeping my mind off of the stress around me. It's my practice of not letting what is out of my control control me. (P.S. This is not a natural vibe for me. 😂 It's something new I'm trying and it's taking a lot -- a lot -- of gentle reminding.) Love that you're using poetry to stay calm. I also enjoy The Lincoln Lawyer, but haven't started the most recent season. I've had a busy summer and am behind on my program viewing. Looking forward to catching up during the cool season. 📺 And 'Have a Beautiful, Terrible Day!' is a great title. :)
Argh. “It's my practice of not letting what is out of my control control me” is such a good approach. It feels impossible when I think about it, but it’s just reality, right!??
It totally feels impossible. But I'm finding I settle into the reality of it by degrees. And when all else fails, there's chocolate and fun t.v. shows. :)

Love this, Petra. Soooo life-affirming. A joy to read.
😊 So glad it spoke to you, Thomas. And so happy to hear you are taking away what I was hoping to convey. :)
