I loved reading this! While I don't particularly care for them in my house, I am very fond of mice and find them a source of endless inspiration. In fact, mouse is one of my sestina words! Have you ever read The Country, by Billy Collins? https://writersalmanac.publicradio.org/index.php%3Fdate=2013%252F03%252F22.html
There's something about his mice that remind me of yours. Thanks so much for sharing this. 💕
This reminds me, in a very happy way, of my Dad and I theorizing that our cat Chester (from a long time ago) was always up to much more than anyone suspected.
It’s making me miss our old cats to remember! Some of them were just sort of inscrutable but ready to be adored; others, like Chester, had many mysterious plans. We’re pretty sure he had a second family/different name.
I will never see cats and mice in the same way again. Pure delight!
So glad you enjoyed it, Deborah! Anytime I hear the word 'delight' used to describe a story I wrote it makes my day! :)
I saved this for a quiet moment this afternoon and I‘m glad I did. I just love your writing and the worlds you create. ❤️
😊 Thank you so much, Diana! This made my day! 😊

Thanks, Tara! 😀
And agreed. No house mice, but they are very inspiring. This is the second story I've written that involves mice. Not to mention the poems.
And I haven't read The Country. I'll check it out.
I loved listening to you read this! And I’m excited for future badass sgt mittens😻
Thanks, Jamie! It was fun to record. And I've already (accidentally)created some images of Sgt Mittens in the future. :)

Glad this brought up a happy memory, Margaret! :)
I feel like cats are into some very intense, world-altering stuff when we're gone. And dogs are throwing parties. Wild parties. 😂

Also, Chester's other family gives me another story idea... 🤔😂
😁 Chester would be honored.
Love to our past animals. They've so beautifully added to our lives.❤️
I haven't had a cat in decades. But I love our neighborhood cats.
😂 I love the question of whether cats have other people when we don't know about it. Something about it strikes me as so funny.
