Oh my goodness. I was assuming that the group in the yard would be safe and everyone else would go away. I didn't see the end coming at all. I love this quote especially: "Daryl watched from behind his blinds, still confused about what social media actually was."

Yeah, I wanted them to be safe, too. But the story just didn't want that to happen. However, I think they were all okay in the end. So that made me feel better. And yes, I love Daryl's character. :) Thanks for reading it, Margaret Ann. :)

Thank you for writing it! It really stuck with me. I can’t remember if I said this—? But it reminded me of Ray Bradbury’s short stories (in the best way, because I love them), especially the more eerie ones that seemed to be set in our “normal” world, but take a dizzying sci-fi turn at the end.

Wow.

That was brilliant.

I don't think I'd touch the button; I'd be tempted, but I probably wouldn't. Hopefully I'll never know...

Thank you, Michael! Very kind words. 😊 I'm so glad you enjoyed it.

And I had the same thoughts writing it. If it were real, would I have pushed the button? I don't think so, but...🤔

I love the suspense you built in this piece, Petra! I was really curious to find out how it was all going to end!

Thanks, Mandy! Glad the suspense came through. I was intentionally playing with suspense building so it's nice to hear it reads that way. It was really fun to write. :)
