We are fully in the middle of holiday season. And whatever holidays you celebrate (or don’t) this time of year can feel cozy or crazy, heartwarming or heartrending, underwhelming or overwhelming.
I’m not here to share any thoughts on writing.
Instead I’m here to say it’s okay if you want to curl up and sleep off the next few weeks, it’s okay if you want to saturate yourself in the holiday celebrations, it’s okay if you want to take a break from your writing, and it’s okay if you feel like now is a perfect time to catch up on your writing projects. Do you. And own it. That’s part of joyful creativity. Allowing yourself to shift with the season. (Okay, I guess that was a little thought on writing.)
But the thing I most want to say to you is that you are loved. I’m sending out virtual hugs to each of you.
So go curl up with some hot chocolate, watch that cheesy holiday movie, put on those ridiculously soft socks, and hug the people and animals you love. Because you and your creative soul are amazing.
Love you, Petra ❤️
P.S. Instead of a post on writing next week, I’ll be posting a short story I’ve been working on this last month. It’s a project inspired and hosted by a fellow Substacker, Ben Wakeman. I’ll include more project details with the story and I’ll be back to regular posts on writing the following week. Have a lovely and sparkly New Year.
Thanks for reading! I’d love for you to follow along with me on this adventure of joyful writing. As an indie author, I really appreciate your support. :)
And, if you know someone who might enjoy this adventure as well, I’d love for you to share it with them too, so here’s a button for that:
I am currently permitting comments on these posts on my Substack website. As always, this means I’m trusting you the reader to give me the benefit of the doubt if I say something weird, or create space for something which doesn’t align with what you think or where you are in your journey, just as I’ll do for you. And please extend the same courtesy to fellow commenters. This is a space to respect each other and the fact that being human is both amazingly beautiful and fucking complicated. Thank you for your respect.
